At Sequoia Family Medicine we offer natural treatments that include modern, traditional, scientific, and empirical methods. Please call us to schedule your appointment 818-736-9889

What to expect at the Initial Visit:
To allow for a thorough understanding of you and your health concerns your initial visit with the doctor is approximately 90 minutes. During this time the ND will do the following:

  • Discuss your medical history
  • Ask questions regarding diet, exercise, sleep patterns and general health habits
  • Discuss your stress level and other external factors that influence health
  • Perform a physical exam
  • Review old lab tests and other medical records
  • Order additional lab tests, if needed
  • Answer questions
  • Discuss treatment options

What to expect at the Follow-up Visit:
Based off your initial visit the doctor will request a follow-up appointment. The frequency of the appointment depends on your health profile. Follow-up visits are scheduled for 50 min. Longer appointments may be scheduled at our hourly rate. You will not be charged more for your visit without a discussion beforehand. Follow-up visits may be scheduled for one of the following reasons:

  • Review new lab results
  • Discuss your response to lifestyle and supplement changes
  • Determine the next step in treatment

Phone Appointments:
Phone appointments are usually available for existing patients but the first appointment must be in person.

Appointment Policies:

  • When you book your appointment you will be asked for your credit card number, this is your reservation of the doctor’s time. We will not charge your card until your visit is completed. At the time of your visit you may pay with the credit card given when booking or another form of payment.
  • If you miss your appointment without giving two business days notice we will charge your card for the cost of the visit. This charge will be applied to the credit card number provided when scheduling your initial appointment.
  • Please be punctual. Naturopathic Medicine requires time, we do not double book or overbook appointments. If you are late for your appointment your time may be cut short.

Insurance Coverage:
Please note that we do not take insurance but would be happy to give you a “Superbill” that can be used to submit a claim to PPO insurance providers if they cover out-of-network providers.  This depends on a number of factors, including your deductible. You can pay by cash, check or credit card at the time of your appointment.

Laboratory Fees:
Lab tests may be covered by PPO insurance. To investigate this option we suggest that you ask your insurance company if your plan covers laboratory analysis ordered by an out-of-network doctor. If  not, we have negotiated rates with several labs to keep your costs down. Cost typically varies from $65 to $280.
